In case you missed it, Windwalker is getting some buffs, http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/19820046/.
Please note that tooltip description for the following Monk abilities will be inaccurate. This will be corrected in a future patch.
Blackout Kick now deals 10% more damage.
Rising Sun Kick now deals 10% more damage.
Tiger Palm now deals 20% more damage.
Fists of Fury now deals 20% more damage.
With the changes coming in 6.2.2, I decided to sim my character and see how much of a difference it was going to be on September 1st when the patch is released.
Current Live sims:
Here’s what this tells us:
- With all the buffs, overall DPS should go up about 9% on single target fights.
- The gap, that was getting smaller to around 5%, between Chi Explosion and Serenity, has gotten wider again, moving back toward the 10% difference we saw pre-t18 when no one considered going Chi Explosion for single target.
- The gap between Haste and Multistrike has gotten slightly smaller, with Haste gaining some ground on MS.
Based on continued sims on multiple targets and add fights, Chi Explosion is still the way to go, with Haste pulling slightly farther away from Multistrike.
This means that it is likely still better to gem and enchant for Haste although using Chi Explosion for Single target fights is going to be slightly less appealing when strictly considering DPS, but the other benefits such as simpler rotation, smoother damage, and lack of GCD capping, haven’t changed.
