So since I started doing the video guides, and spent more time finishing the spreadsheet (we’ll get to that), so I’ve been neglecting some of the changes to the 7.2 PTR builds. So lets catch up.
7.2 PTR Build 23578
These are the new tier bonuses (boni?) for T20. These bonuses are both relatively passive and single target focused, although the 2pc bonus could, theoretically be placed on two different targets for double the crit increase. This does require a certain amount of haste and/or the t19 2pc bonus that reduces the cooldown of Rising Sun Kick.
Early napkin math has them slightly stronger than current t19 Bonus, and there’s the added benefit of being able to mix and match with 2pc of one tier and 2 or 4pc of the other tier. Its possible, if not likely, that this will be the preferred method until a certain item level breakpoint, which I’ll figure out as we get closer to 7.2’s release.
7.2 PTR Build 23623
Many legendaries received some tweaks to their stat distributions, so I won’t go about listing them since they really won’t effect much.
- Drinking Horn Cover The duration of
Storm, Earth, and Fire is extended by 0.6sec for every Chi you spend.
This seems to be a relatively confusing thing for many people to read. Basically all it does is add Serenity to Drinking Horn Cover, the functionality between Drinking Horn Cover and Storm, Earth, and Fire isn’t changed at all. When Drinking Horn Cover is equipped, Serenity‘s buff will be increased by 0.4s per Chi spender you cast. This puts the maximum duration of Serenity at 13s, assuming you cast one Chi spender every GCD. If you use Fists of Fury during Serenity, which will very likely be best, then Serenity will max out at 11s. Its unclear what, if any, effect it will have on the balance of talents, but I am relatively confused about the reasoning behind it, but I’ll leave that discussion for a podcast rant. I can’t wait to implement this into my spreadsheet… not.
- Thunderfist Strike of the Windlord grants you Thunderfist for each enemy struck. Thuderfists discharge upon melee strikes, dealing 0 Nature damage.
Name changed from Cestus of Storms to Thunderfist
Obviously just a name change, nothing to see here, move along.
- Concordance of the Legionfall
Increases damage dealt by 1%. [PH]
This is the new trait that replaces the previous Windborne Blows in 7.2. This scales from 2000 Agility at rank 1 to 11800 Agility at rank 50, with an average proc per minute set at 1.37. Raise your hand if you’re excited for another buff to monitor and react to… anyone? For more information on how this changes from the current system, there are ample resources on Wowhead discussing the topic, so I wont reiterate it here. Short version is that its meant to be an AP dump after you hit all the other traits, and the “grind” is much longer and harder (thats what she said) than it is currently.
I have finally released the long awaited spreadsheet that I have been working on since July. I have also released a video guide for the spreadsheet to help explain its purpose and how to use it. The spreadsheet is just a project I have been working on and is not meant to replace other tools like SimCraft. Please make your own copy and close the original tab so that everyone has access to it.
Lastly, I have started covering several topics in video format, since its a much requested thing. I wont promise regular videos that cover all topics, but when I have the time, I will do what I can. You can find them on my YouTube channel in the Guide playlist.
As with everything else, and specially since I’m adding quite a lot more content recently. If you like the content that I provide and would like to see me continue to provide it, then please support me and WalkingTheWind through Patreon or PayPal. The more support I get, the easier it is to justify (to my wife) spending more time adding content, podcasts, articles, videos, etc. and is largely the reason that I’ve started making a few video guides.
For anyone using Discord, we have added a new channel called #windannounce that we are using to post important information, updates, and more, rather than ping the whole community. In order to gain access to this channel, you need to go into the #bot-commands channel and type “.giveme Windwalker” which will assign you the role so that you can see it. There is a channel for every spec, so if you want to be kept up to date on the big news for each spec, just do “.giveme Mistweaver” or “.giveme Brewmaster” in the #bot-command channel. The instructions for this are also pinned in #general.
Hopefully, this answers more questions than it creates. As always you can find us on Discord to answer questions, and if you liked what you read don’t hesitate to scroll down or to the top and subscribe and support WtW.
